EERU responded for the second call out this week on a big draft horse that couldn’t get up. We responded to Midnight Farm outside Baldwin City to assist ranch Staff with “Rick”, a 22 year old very big boy Belgian. “Rick” weighed around 2000 pounds and stood over 17 hands tall. Rick had been down for at least 5 hours, and was just out of energy to get up. As dehydration was becoming a big factor this afternoon, we pulled out the new Kathleen Anne Becker Tripod as Rick was too big and too tall to use a the ranch tractor. After some quick set up of the tripod, we were able to get Rick on his feet again. Thank you to the EERU Staff all of the Midnight Farm Staff and Volunteers. Really great people at a really cool facility. For those of you that are ordering Kathleen’s new Tripod, I have to say it’s amazing! No height issues today. Watch for more posts about future EERU training at Midnight Farm.
